There are a couple of areas of thunderstorm activity this Monday Evening. First area is up in the Great Lakes region, including portions of Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio. The second area is down in the Ark-La-Tex region. Most of this activity will be diminishing in intensity tonight as the amount of instability in the atmosphere lessens.
Every single storm report today so far has been because of large hail. In fact, hail larger than two inches in diameter has been noted in multiple locations in Central Illinois today.
The Storm Prediction Center had highlighted these two areas for the severe weather activity through this evening. There is the possibility that these areas could be trimmed back when the next Day 1 outlook comes within the hour. An isolated severe weather risk will be remaining for the rest of tonight. This will be especially true down in the Ark-La-Tex region.
