As we move further into November, winter weather is beginning to shape up across the U.S., with notable differences between regions. For those in the Rockies, a series of storms are set to bring snowfall, while much of the eastern U.S. will experience unseasonably mild conditions.
Snow in the Rockies
Residents in the Rockies should brace for a wintery scene, as a cold front is bringing rounds of snow to the region. The higher elevations, particularly in Colorado and New Mexico are set to see significant accumulations. Snowfall totals could vary, but in some spots, we could see a foot or more piling up. Even the Front Range gets several inches.
Then early next week more snow hits the Pacific Northwest. This is a precursor to the winter pattern.
Mild Weather in the East
Meanwhile, the eastern U.S. is expected to enjoy a reprieve from early winter conditions. Thanks to a high-pressure system, warmer-than-average temperatures still anchor over the region. It will be a wetter pattern for the central US into the eastern 1/3 , but that is mainly needed.
This contrast between the snowy Rockies and the mild East highlights the diverse weather patterns we experience across the country. For those in the East, it’s a chance to delay winterizing your routine, while in the Rockies, it’s time to dust off the snow gear!
