One of the warmest December’s on record is closing out soon with cold getting into the Northwest and northern Plains. Several clipper systems will head through the upper Midwest and into the Northeast with snow chances. Mild weather stays south of I-90 limiting snow risks. Significant West snow is likely with feet in the mountains.
Some major cold is likely with temperatures 30 degrees below average coming into the northern Plains. This won’t spread far east the rest of the month, but should make things less widespread warm.
